Soviet soldiers shown sexually harassing a German woman on the street. Leipzig, Germany. August 1945. After the Fall of Berlin and the defeat of Nazi Germany, Soviet troops occupied the eastern half of Germany and prepared  to set up a communist government.

 Full of desire for revenge for the incredible amount of rapes and executions the Wehrmacht did in Russia, the Red Army was claimed to have committed rapes throughout Germany, with claims that as many as 100,000 women were raped just in Berlin alone. Horrifying reports were made that some women in East Germany were gang raped 60 to 70 times.

 Some American, British and French troops also committed a lower series of rapes in occupied West Germany. Many historians claim this was: "The largest phenomenon of mass rape in all of history", while some Russian historians say the Red Army was generous and respectful to the population of East Germany.
