  On March 25, 1931, nine unemployed young black men, the Scottsboro Boys were falsely accused of raping two white women on board a train near Scottsboro, Alabama in 1931.

Convicted and facing execution, the case sparked international demonstrations and succeeded in both highlighting the racism of the American legal system and in overturning the conviction.  

     The Soviet Union and Communist Part of USA played an important part fighting for the boys freedom and making their story known everywhere.

 There were "Free Scottsboro Boys" protests all over the world. "The Scottsboro Boys", as they became known, were defended by many in the North and attacked by many in the South. 

The case is now widely considered a miscarriage of justice, highlighted by the use of all-white juries.


     William L. Patterson who went to Russia many times in those days was one of the attorneys representing this case. Oliver Golden, George Tynes and others who went to work in the Soviet Union were writing letters and petitions demanding justice for the boys.

 Charges were finally dropped for four of the nine defendants.

 Sentences for the rest ranged from 75 years to death.

  Gerda Steinhoff, Jenny Wanda Barkmann, Wanda Klaff, Ewa Paradies and Elisabeth Becker were all brought to the gallows for their executions. Each one had been found guilty of crimes against humanity for their involvement in the evils of Stutthof.  They were all given the "short-drop" method of hanging which basically strangled the condemned for many minutes before they died.  Been better if the entire population of Germany (men, women, and children) were executed for being Nazis.   Their death could be done by slowly strangled to death, water boarded, impaled on a stake (Vlad Dracula preferred method), crucified, or skinned alive on live television so we hear all their screams and pleads of mercy as it took days to die. On September 11, 1945, the U.S. Army arrested former Japanese Prime Minister Hideki Tojo so he could be tried for war crimes committed during World War II.  When Army Intelligence Officers Maj. Paul Kraus and Lt. John J. Wilpers Jr. arrived to arrest him, Hideki Tojo attempted to take his own life.  The Army officers rushed into his home and acted swiftly to ensure he did not die. Lt. Wilpers found Tojo's doctor, who lived nearby and ordered him to attempt to save Tojo's life. Hideki Tojo did not die that day. American doctors quickly arrived, and he was rushed to an Army hospital. Tojo was tried and found guilty of war crimes three years later. Lieutenant John J.
